To prepare for the PMP exam requires good time management skills, organizational skills and self-discipline.

Things You'll Need:

    * Work History
    * Education History
    * PC

   1.

      Preparing to become a PMP (Project Management Professional) requires you to manage this as a project. Prepare a project plan with tasks and dates. Identify start and end dates. Partner with a friend who will ensure you complete the tasks on time.
   2.
      2

      Access www.PMI.org and print out the PMP Credential Handbook including Credential Application and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct book. Read each document thoroughly. Do not proceed until these documents have been read and understood.
   3.
      3

      Determine if you meet the educational and work experience requirements. Assuming you do, collect your education and work experience information. Record the information on a word document. This information will be needed when applying online to PMI.
   4.
      4

      Access www.PMI.org and enter the personal, educational and work experience information. PMI will take approximately 5 business days to review your application submission. If approved, you may now register for the exam. If declined, you will need to submit additional information to PMI.
   5.
      5

      Plan to spend approximately 3 months studying before the PMP exam date. There are many options available to study (ie, 5-day PMP prep course, PMP podcasts, self study, PMP study groups). Determine what works best for you and stick to it.
   6.
      6

      Contact the testing center and register for an PMP certification exam. Identify the location of the testing center, items to bring, not to bring, length of time. Arrive early to the test center.
